Live staff is cracking down! - 01-22-2007, 03:53 PM

I personally did not believe that the feedback and banning system on xbox live was ever very effective, but lately I have seen eveidence of them cracking down on gamers!

Case 1: A personal friend of mine was playing Uno this past weekend on xbox live with his girlfriend, and another friend and a random player (now banned.) Well, this player joined their game and started making very strange comments toward his girlfriend, things that I would not like to repeat in this post, but he was really creeping them out, and when they asked how old he was, he said that he was 35. They started saying stuff back and forth, and one of the kids (age 13) decides to call microsoft support. The operator tells him that since the guy was 35 and the girl was only 16, the guy could be labled as a sexual predator. The operator told him to call his local police department and say that microsoft told him to call. SO he does, and he filed a report with the police at his house. They, contacted microsoft and got the guys address, and got in touch with the local police near him. And, now I am happy to say that this guy has been permanately banned from Xbox Live and will live the rest of his life, labled as a sexual predator.

Case 2: I read this story in the February issue of OXM. The story states that a teenage boy was on live saying a lot of profanity to the wrong guy (microsoft staff.) SO, the Microsoft employee decided to look up the kids account, and noticed that it contained his home phone number. The microsoft staff guy, then called the kids house and talked to the kids mom. He introduced himself and told the mother why his was calling, he stated that the kid had been banned from live and that he wouldnt be gaming for a while. The mother insisted on knowing what the kid had said, and he said that hed rather not repeat them, she insisted and he finally said them. Lets just say, the kid probably now knows the taste of various soaps and wont be aloud near an xbox 360 for a while.

Moral- Microsoft has stated that they have employed various new undercover gamers that are looking for various offenders, and they will not be giving warnings anymore. So watch what you say and watch what you do or show on video, such as nudity, and illegal drug use (especially in games like Uno.) Dont forget that they know, where you live and all of your personal information.
