So you're playing scoutzknivez or another low gravity map, and you see some guy zooming around the map in an S shape.
Like so:
Top View - SLOW MOTION, IT'S A LOT FASTER THAN THIS
And you wonder: hacks? Actually, no. This is known as air strafing. And I'm going to teach those of you who don't know how to do this.. erm... how to do this.
First of all, you gotta get either a scout or your knife out. Then hold W to start moving forwards. Then jump into the air. Now, once you're in the air, you have to move your mouse 45 degrees to the left while moving your mouse to the left, then move your mouse 45 degrees to the right while moving your mouse to the right.
Keep repeating this and your speed in the air will increase by up to 3 times. If you're playing in scoutzknivez, this also makes it hard for your enemy to hit you, because you're moving around like a little ape-crap.
It should look something like this:
Now, for surfing. Surf maps are maps that start with the surf_ prefix (big surprise, eh?). Once you join the server, and spawn, you'll probably see in front of you a slope that has two sides, kind of like a triangle.
It should look something like this (varies with different maps)
So, what you have to do is jump onto either side of the triangle. If you're on the left side of the triangle, you have to look straight and hold the D key to go against the slope. Likewise, if you're on the right side of the triangle, you'd hold the A key to go against the slope.
When you get to the end of a slope, you'll either fall off, or you can jump off by looking towards the middle of the slope (where the two sides meet). This will give you a boost into the air (refer to video)
When you get off of the slope, if the next slope is to the right of you, you'll need to use air strafing to get to it.
While you're in the air, do the same technique as you did in the air strafe, only do it towards one direction. For example: if you want to turn right, you'd move your mouse to the right while holding D.
Here's a video of a random guy surfing. You'll notice that in the beginning. He jumps to the right side of the slope and holds the A key to go against the slope:
