I think for me it's a gray area. For example, weapon spread with precision weapons drives me nuts. (Think H3). However, UT and Quake type games often have rockets where you need to fire several for a kill. I don't like that either as it devalues the weapon system. I really like H2 because it came so close to having a comfortable mix of (relative) realism and balance. H3 is more realistic (no glitches comes to mind fast), less balanced (MM anything) IMO.
