XBOX Connect Tutorial - 04-06-2007, 09:39 AM

How To Set Up XBOX Connect

Where can I download XBC?
http://www.xbconnect.com/index.php?topic=Downloads
Download from here. This program is free!

Step 1:
Download the latest version of XBConnect from the downloads page.

Step 2:
Use the self-extracting archive to install the program.

Step 3:
Turn your Xbox on.

Step 4:
Using halo as an example, boot the game disc. After which, goto multiplayer Goto system link games. From there select you "halo" profile. This will bring you to the waiting screen. We will refer to this as the "looking for games screen". This is where you want to stop. If you are not on this screen, XBConnect will not be able to detect your Xbox.

Step 5:
From here start up XBConnect. The program will tell you to set up your
options. First enter your internet nickname. Next to Xbox status it should say "FOUND". If it says looking..or NOT FOUND, check your connections and any possible hardware configurations that you may have. This is all you should have to do in "options" unless you have a web proxy server, in which case just enter your web proxy server and port into the appropriate fields. Click OK.

Step 6:
You are ready to join the chat server. It will tell you if it is connecting.
If it says status:Offline, click online at bottom right of the screen, to go online. It may take a second to load. If it brings up a password field, then the
nickname you've chosen is owned by someone else. Cancel joining the chat, and go back to options and choose a more unique nickname. Join once again. If the nickname was not registered by anyone else you will see the chatroom in a few seconds.

Step 7:
From here you can chat with other users and join/host games. To join a game click "Join", To host a game click "Host". You are now set up to play online, enjoy.

Setup A

Step 1: Plug your network cable (RJ-45 cable) that comes from your modem into the uplink port of your hub. (Make sure that your uplink is switched to "on").

Step 2: Take an RJ-45 cable and run it from one of the ports of the hub, directly to the Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in your computer.

Step 3: Take another RJ-45 cable and run it from a different port of your hub directly to your xbox.

NOTE: A switch may be used in place of a hub with the same basic setup.

That's it! No other network changes should be needed for this configuration. Your Xbox is now on the same network as your PC.

Setup B

Step 1: Plug your network cable(RJ-45 cable) that comes from your modem into the WAN port of your router.

Step 2: Take an RJ-45 cable and run it from one of the ports of the router, directly to the Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in your computer.

Step 3: Take another RJ-45 cable and run it from a different port of your router directly to your xbox.

NOTE: If your router has a built in firewall, you will need to forward ports 8602 both incoming and outgoing to the internal ip address of your pc. Consult your device manual for port forwarding or visit PortForward.com

That's it! Your Xbox is now on the same network as your PC.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Setup C

Step 1: Plug your network cable(RJ-45 cable) that comes from your modem into first NIC card on your PC.

Step 2: Take a RJ-45 Crossover Cable and run it from the second NIC card on your PC, directly to your Xbox.

NOTE: A Crossover Cable is only needed if you are connecting the Xbox directly to a NIC card. This type of network setup also requires the use of WinICS (tutorial found here) or a program such as WinRoute© (downloadable from the world wide web). Consult the manual for specific instructions on how to set this up or visit our WinRoute Configuration section.

That's it! Your Xbox is now on the same network as your PC.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Setup D

Step 1: Plug your USB cable that comes from your modem into your PC's USB port. This should already be done, if you have a usb modem for your current internet connection.

Step 2: Take a RJ-45 Crossover Cable and run it from an installed NIC card on your PC, directly to the Xbox.

Setup E

Step 1: Plug the USB Cable that comes from the Wireless Adapter into your PC's USB port. This should already be done, if you have a wireless router for your current internet connection.

Step 2: Take a RJ-45 Crossover Cable and run it from an installed NIC card on your PC, directly to the Xbox.

NOTE: A regular RJ-45 Cable can be used instead of a USB Cable for connecting the Cable/DSL Modem to the Router.
