Omgz The Revolution! - 09-16-2005, 08:21 AM

The controller was revealed!
At a glance.
Quote:
# Remote control design: constructed to appeal to a wide variety of potential players
# 3D Pointing: Sensors understand up, down, left, right, forward and backward.
# Tilt Sensitive: Controller can be rotated or rolled from side-to-side.
# Buttons Included: Has a trigger on its backside, face buttons, and a D-Pad.
# Multifunctional: Has an expansion port which can be used with different types of controller peripherals. Analog stick with two trigger buttons planned for left hand.
# Wireless: Totally wire-free. Currently there are no details on the max distance, source or power, or otherwise.
# Rumble Built-in. Included standard in all the controllers.

IGN Editor's Thoughts

For those who want pics:
Full pic. Extremely high res.
(more pics in the "at a glance" link)

Now, before you say anything about the look of it. Think about it. Its clear how that would work with NES and SNES games. We already know the console will support gamecube controllers for Multi-Platform games.

Really think about it though. This will be the first time a console may even come close to competing with PC FPS games. Its also the first time an RTS game could work well on a console. This controller opens up a whole new world of gaming. I expect to see some great first-person combat games. Imagine running down a long hall, when someone pops out. You no longer has to turn around, get a good shot setup, and fire. Now, just whip the controller and move your hand to backfist them.

I honestly can't wait for the Revolution now. It'll be in my collection ASAP.

It looks like the lamest thing I've ever seen. I couldn't stand to control something with only one hand. but then again, they are nintendo - the innovators. So I could be wrong. We'll see.

Its actually 2 pieces. The left hand will use the joystick and the 2 shoulder buttons. The right hand....does everything else lol. If you turn the one with all the buttons sideways, you see how you will play NES/SNES games.

Yes, and so do PCs. However, now it will be LEGAL.

Ugunnalose, I was screwing around with that for like 20 minutes earlier lol.

Maybe I'm the only one who can imagine a game like Far Cry (PC one, not the crap console one) or Half Life 2 actually being done WELL on a console.

Im excited. I'll own all you at SSB ONLINE!
