another tutorial - 12-08-2005, 06:06 PM
thanks to phalanx for showin me how to use the program. i recorded the steps in making this quick signature. i made this just to highlight some aspects of photoshop. if i had a mic i would have done a voiceover...ill pick one up in case i do another one of these. let me know if this is helpful at all.
with this tutorial you will see how i make this simple sig quite fast. (wouldve been faster if wm encoder didnt make my mouse uber slow haha) ![]() right-click, save as. 1. select > color range. allows you to select a color range. helpful in removing solid backgrounds and outlines, such as the green outline around the render. 2. quickmask. by entering quickmask mode, you "paint" a selection. 3. layer > new adjustment layer. allows you to make changes to a layer without permanently distorting the image itself. selecting the clipping mask option allows you to change only one section of the layer, in this case the visor. 4. vector mask. the white square to the right of my layer is a vector mask. whats white is shown, whats black is not. editing is the same as in quickmask, you only use black and white.

the thing about photoshop is, when you start, you use the simple things. filters, layer effects (outer glow seems to be a popular one now), etc. but there are so many little techniques that can be used that make all the difference. in that one tutorial i did a lot of little things i hope people can notice. its all about creativity. i wanna pick up a mic so i can do voiceovers to explain what im doing.

can u explain uncensored? not exactly sure what you meant. if you mean do i know all the shortcuts, then yea. i used a hue/sat adjustment layer in this demonstration, but to get a more powerful effect use a curves adjustment layer as in this video.
notice its in rgb color mode. to get the absolute most control, use cmyk. here is an example that i did, converting a black and white image into a color image using this process. ![]() ![]()
