in case most of you guys dont know A Scanner Darkly was a movie that came out within the past half year starring Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, Robert Downey Jr....It's a movie about a drug in the future called Substance D and deals with topics like addiction, social isolation, etc...It was an independent film, so it wasn't very highly advertised and only played at a few select theatres. I had the rare opportunity to see the movie and I'd highly recommend it. An especially unique aspect of hte movie is the use of a technique called rotoscoping, which is basically the act of turning a piece of film (of human beings) and animating them through the use of very sophisticated software. THe purpose is an artistic one and really sets it apart in terms in meaning and sheer cool factor from a lot of other movies.
In case you didn't know, that picture is the animated (rotoscoped) version of Keanu Reeves in the movie. in terms of photoshop, it looks like you just cut out his head and pasted on a starry background. |
