It's actually not, it's much further out, but when you die, and you respawn, it pulls the camera in closer like that (I think it gets confused and tries to put you back into first person or something?)... but it makes it easier to play with the camera closer like that...
It's not too hard to play like that, well, it kind of is and kind of isnt... moving around is a lot easier, and being able to actually see your strafe while you're getting BRed at is really cool... but aiming and not being able to zoom in definatly sucks... I dunno, I really like Halo as a FPS, but I honestly wouldn't mind at all if there was a 3rd person view option in Halo 3... it's just sooooo cool looking to actually be able to see MC while you are MC...
