3D weapons for tages

I was just wondering how you make those 3D weapons in some montages. Do i need a certain software or can i just use vegas 6.0? If anyone can help that would be great because i am looking to add some of those in my teams up and coming montage. Thanx

i'd think you'd need 3Ds Max.
