The Host Thread - 05-17-2006, 01:23 PM
It's getting annoying now...not only am I sick and tired of people complaining about host, but I'm also sick of people that think out-BRing host is an amazing achievement.
By the way, this guy explains it in a form of 1v1 on Warlock. It was intended to help people with 1v1's but has a lot of good info about host. *Taken from MLGpro.com I give 100% Credit* 1)People that scream "omfg i just out BR'd the host!1". These people are RETARDED. If you have a good connection to the host, you actually have an advantage over him - even from base to base on midship! 2)People that whine that they are getting "hosted across the map". They're too stupid to realise how this game works on live. If you shoot back at the host, they can't host you! In fact, if you keep your nerve and don't back down because its "the host omg!11" you should be able to out BR them. **Out BRing the host** Ok, first off you've got to connect well to the host box. So in America your looking at someone within a few states that gives you a "full green" ping even when your being shot at/naded. I'd reccomend getting cable/t1 or w/e high speed internet you can get. A good indication that you've connected well to the host is when your symbol comes up instantly along with the hosts when the game starts. Ok, so there's two levels of Auto-aim for xbox live/LAN. Xbox live has alot more obviously to help with shots registering. The autoaim on LAN is noticeably less than on live, and its the reason alot of people that think they're good get served on LAN. When your on Xbox live, everyone gets xbox live auto-aim, apart from the host which gets less like on LAN. This means although the host's shots will register before yours, its harder for him to hit his shots. So to out BR the host, Gandhi hopping near the end of the fight and short strafes should make him miss a few. Also, when your playing a 1v1, and say your at blue flag and the hosts on yellow platform, don't backdown and let the host take the camo and map control. Keep scoping in and hitting him and he won't be able to do anything and will have to backdown. You should be able to have map control the entire game by making the host back down in every firefight. Oh another important fact: Don't try this if the host has a BR and you have a carbine, because the carbine is ineffective at long range. In fact i'd suggest not using the carbine at all off host. **Map Control** Few people actually know how to control warlock. Strongside, karma, ogre2 etc do the following: Camp with the camo in the top centre, with frags and a BR. When their opponent spawns they make sure they can't get a BR. Players almost always spawn on the lower levels. The BR spawns are the four platforms and bottom centre (The bottom centre spawn you can hear with some decent headphones so that's not a problem - you can just sneak down and kill them by surprise ). Because 'nades can be bounced off the top centre floor and explode in anyone going up the ramps face, going up the ramps to get a BR is out of bounds. There's also the fact that when your at top centre with a BR you can "peak shoot" i.e. keep going in and out behind the pilars. This means the carbines useless because every time you peak, they can only get one carbine shot on you. So if you peak four times, hit them four times and they hit you all four times aswell, your still going to win . Watch VoD, Karma does it very well. This means that the only options left for them to get a BR are to go up the lift or rush bottom centre. Going up the lift is stupid because if you spot them going up then they're as good as dead (no one can effectively BR coming up a lift). There's no chance of getting out carbined by the host when you have a BR don't worry. Make the host backdown so you can take camo and top centre control, don't be afraid. Especially if you "peak shoot", and its at long range.
