Best Hip Hop Album all Year - 12-10-2006, 09:11 PM

Nas...Hip Hop is Dead. It hasn't come out, but a copy has leaked, and I say this without a doubt: Best Hip Hop Album all year. It lived up to the hype that comes with an emcee releasing an album of this caliber. Every single track is good and the standout tracks:

Black Republican (w/ Jay-Z)
Blunt Ashes
Carry on Tradition
Hustlers (ft. Game)

Nas does it again showing us that lyrical complexity and depth are not mutually exclusive. Better production and beats that comes naturally with signing with Jay, he has an album that is hands down great. The only thing that touches this album in terms of realism and lyrical wow-factor is the Clipse: Hell Hath no Fury.

what's funny is that Game gets his wish on Nas's album: a song that's produced by Dr.Dre. too bad it was for Nas's album, and not his own. lol.

Jeezy is aite; i can see the talent, but it sounds too much like motivation 101. that and i have issue with the sound of his voice.

Snoop is a very impressive album.

as much as i'm critical of Game, I still listen to the album and enjoy it.

i have 1 problem with snoop......now he is all about giving to the community and giving to the kids and all that good stuff

but in his album, half the songs are like....snoop shootin up some people gangsta as fvck

and then he has a song about football , and the snooper bowl and all that stuff for kids ...its just backwards

buuuuut....in my opinion snoop shouldnt have chorus's because his rapping is just sooo smooth, and flows perfectly....

Favorite part of that album during "Who Killed it" (with the nasty Eric B sample) when Nas is talking to hip hop, and he's asking her when she was born 77 or 78. She says she went back to slavery times and then she feel in love with Clive Campbell. As I was listening to this totally engrossed in the metaphor, I was screaming "Who the **** is Clive Campbell!!!" Then "Hip Hop" says "oh that's Kool Herc" and then it cuts to a Laugh track. Unbelievable Song.

Unbelievable Album when someone says that Hip Hop is dead they better step their game up and Nas does it. Comparable to It was Written better than stillmatic, God's Son. Just an amazing album. Hopefully the record sales reflect that.
