please, tell me, what exactly makes a word bad? why are the words shit, f*ck, b*tch, etc. considered "bad?"

it's the media portraying them as bad. it's not that the words are actually stealing the warm-fuzzies from your soul. if, at one point in time, someone didn't say that the word "fu*ck" is a bad word, then you wouldn't have kids running around today saying it every other word, trying to be rebelious towards society. there wouldn't be words censored on television, in movies, on the radio, etc. i have heard these words so many times, that i'm completely numb to them. and i know i'm not the only one who feels this way.

what makes the word nigger any different? do you call people fags? do you call things gay? gay people have been abused for longer than black people ever have. do you know where the word faggot comes from? if you look in a dictionary, faggot will come up as a "bundle of sticks" or something to that effect. before the slave trade even was a thought, homosexuals were being burned and used as wood in fires.
