Just remember we are not talking about a treadmill the size of the plane. We are talking about one the size of a normal runway.
It isn't going forward at all though. If you were too look at the whole thing from the side you'd see the treadmill moving to the right, the planes engines pushing it in the opposite direction equaling the speed of the treadmill. What you have is a plane that is not moving, what you don't have is any force to lift the plane. Yes the engines are flaring, but that doesn't matter if the plane is not being pushed thus not creating any lift under the wings. The only force lifting the wings are the pre-existing wind conditions, which aren't nearly enough.

Without some kind of force lifting the plane, be it cutting into the wind, or thrusters on the bottom of the plane, it will not lift nor takeoff.

Nice metaphor there.
BUT, the boat actually does move against the current when it has a motor..

So that would mean the answer is yes, if your correct?

Lol, no.

A boat doesn't deal with lift forces and drag.

Unless you setup a giant fan capable of recreating such forces, and set it in front of the giant treadmill, it's not going to work.

The plane would still move forward because of the thrust being produced by the planes motors. Regardless of how fast the treadmill is moving in the reverse direction, the plane would still push forward. The only thing the treadmill is effecting is the wheels. The wheels do not matter in the equation.(sp?)

Put on some rollerblades and get on a normal treadmill. Turn on the treadmill. You would just sit there correct? (obviously your body being so small, it would need support) The faster the treadmill goes, the more you just sit there and your blades spin. Now put on a jetpack. Turn on the treadmill. Turn it all the way up. Now turn on the jetpack. Guess were you are going to end up? In another room. You know why? Because the jetpack created its own force to push you forward. Just because it is strapped to you, does not mean the treadmill could compensate. The treadmill would never be able to compensate. No matter how fast it spun.

So no matter how fast that treadmill went in the opposite direction, the plane would still push forward and up to it's normal take off speed and it would go right down the treadmill and take off after creating the lift it needed because the wheels on the bottom of the plane that are free spinning and blazing away on the treadmill do not mean a single thing.

ok here we go I'll try and explain it

first watch this vid

now when the plane is on the treadmill and the plane is not on well the plane is going to go flying off the treadmill.

now if the plane is on and jets are full blast matching the speed of the tread mill the wheels will go like this

MS paint FTW

the tread mill is basically pushing the tire around and around while the jet push's for the skies
