heisman predictions/bowl predictions, yes quinn, come hither - 11-07-2007, 12:47 PM
at the end of the season, here is my top ten (by BCS ranking, not skill)
1. Ohio State 2. Oregon 3.Oklahoma 4. Kansas 5. West Virginia 6. Missouri 7. Boston College 8. Georgia 9. Arizona State 10. Connecticut (maybe) Ohio State-Oregon National Championship- 34-20 Oregon Oregon lost on a bonehead call and ohio state still hasn't plaid a team that runs the spread as well as oregon, by far the best team in the country. Even though tressel will try his best to prepare better for the spread, its something the players just aren't used to. Although the big ten needs a little more credit than it gets, i believe ohio state will lose (*cry cry) Heisman- Dennis Dixon- such a talent (Winner) tim tebow isnt a great thrower, and his team isnt winning, he shouldn't even be in the race. Unless you are absolutly blowing away people with plays, the clutch plays havent been there. Todd Boeckman's numbers are actually better than that of Troy Smith's last year, just a thought Darren McFadden- if his team could win, he would be the undisputed leader, but, the unpredictableness of college football is what makes it so great

Dixon or Tebow for heisman, Tebow has more rushing touchdowns than McFadden does. PATHETIC.
You see garbage, you can't blame any of Florida's 3 losses on the offensive side. Tebow has been great, but it's been eclipsed by the average defense.

1. LSU they will win the national championship
Heisman - Andre Woodson, he is the best QB in the nation, if Dixon wins I will laugh my ass off, 2 joke QB's winning back to back would make me die. Troy Smith was terrible, Dixon is even worse. Who couldnt complete passes if everyone was worried about the run? Just like Troy smith he cant complete passes if the the run is being stuffed. The only thing thats the real deal in Oregon is the running back Johnathon Stewart. Dont forget guys Dixon was splitting time with Brady Leaf last year, that guy sucks. Someone please link me to a video of Dixon completing a good pass, post a picture of him completing a clutch pass and making a tough throw, because I have yet to see it. Also the real question is this, how many times have you seen Dixon play besides last saturday against Arizona State? Last edited by QUINN : 11-07-2007 at 03:57 PM. |

My thoughts on the subject are as follows:

ok first. you obviously have a grudge against the big ten allow me to elaborate So, to back up my arguement that the conferences are evenly matched I'll throw down some numbers for you. Bowl record last year: 2-1 in favor of the Big Ten Bowl record last five years: 8-6 in favor of the Big Ten Bowl record last ten years: 13-13 BCS wins in the last ten years: SEC - 9, Big Ten 8 National Champions in the past ten years: SEC 3, Big Ten 2 Heisman Trophies in the last 15 years: Big Ten 5, SEC 1 There are some numbers that indicate the level of success of both conferences, and the even matchups that occur every bowl season. Now, let's talk about speed. The Big Ten is not the big slow power I conference it once was. Ohio State and Michigan have produced an entire stable of lightning quick athletes over the last few years. We could talk about guys like Tim Biakabatuka(4.4 in the 40), Joey Galloway (4.27), Ted Ginn Jr (4.31 in High School), Drew Carter (4.39), Anthony Gonzalez (4.29 at this years combine), Mario Manningham (4.48), Steve Breaston (4.2), Mike Hart (4.45)... I could go on listing big time speed in the Big Ten, but I think you get the point. We could also explore the amazing athletes who aren't necessarily known for their speed like Troy Smith, and Antwan Randle-El. Now you're thinking, "so what, every conference has speed at the skill positions, what about in the trenches?" Well my friend, the big ten has had more than its share of speedy defensive lineman over the last few years. I could go through another exhausting list like I did for the WR/RB's, but I'll just leave a few for you to think about. Will Smith (OSU, 4.7 in the forty, 260 pounds of mantastic quarterback crushing power) LaMarr Woodley (Mich, 4.6 in the forty, 6-1 266) Darrion Scott (OSU, 4.58 in the forty, 6-3 271) Now that I've put those concerns to rest, we can all agree that the Big Ten puts out some freak athletes who can run with the best of them. In fact, at the 2007 combine OSU's Antonio Pittman put up the third best forty time for running backs. Only Adrian Peterson of Oklahoma (Big Twelve NOT SEC) and Chris Henry of Arizona (Pac 10 NOT SEC) put up better numbers. But now you're thinking "You've only been mentioning players from OSU and UM, what about the other teams?" Well, I have an answer to your question. Northwestern frequently runs a five wideout set (requiring a good deal of speed at the skill positions). One of the Big Ten's "little nine" played tough against big bad LSU in the 02 sugar bowl. Penn State is generally a very good team, and they occasionally put together a great season. Wisconsin always puts together a strong squad. See last year's Capital One Bowl. Every few years Iowa is mentioned in the national title picture. Michigan State has been a chronic underachiever for the last few years under the John L. Smith regime. They've had tons of talent and no success. I think I've made my point that the Big Ten is a fairly strong conference. I don't disrespect the SEC, I'm just sick of hearing how much better they are. You could make a lot of the same claims about the SEC that people make about the big ten. LSU has been consistently strong, but Arkansaw/Auburn/Alabama haven't done any better than Penn State/Wisconsin/Illinois The Big Ten is, at the very least, strongly competitive with any conference in the country while maintaining significantly tougher academic standards than the SEC. The defense rests. ok dennis dixon is horrible? lol clutch throw? lol ^^ not clutch? at michigan? nationally televised? how do you still hate on oregon? pac 10 is just as tough as the sec, and they lost on a more bonehead play than lsu, who actually got legitimatly beat. seriously andre woodson is good, great possibly, but teams still have to win, which they havent done in the last couple of weeks sooooooo hes done for. seriously they lost 37-12 at home to mississippi state??!! how can you still be on this guy. his stats against mississippi were 3 interceptions and 24 for 42 for 230? hes done. end of story lsu is good, but i believe oregon will pass them either team that plays ohio state will lose tho (one thing we agree on) okay, im all done
