well i took precalc last year, mad easy. nothing like calculus except for derivatives really. That was straight As. ap calc is straight Bs. Idk how reg calc works we dont even have that.
its just a lot of totally new material that you have most likely never done in any math class before i guess. Leaky helps me though when I need it.

What type of calc have you done so far?

AP classes weren't anything special, you should have taken some. They get you done with some classes before the end of the school year

we havent touched it this quarter we're more into trigonometry now...but earlier in the semester and in 1st semester we had real easy stuff like composite functions, matrices (idk why we did that though because i remember doing that a long time ago in like 8th grade..mainly review i guess). we went over polynomial functions for soooo long because apparently no one gets them but i think theyre cake imo. we touched on derivatives for about a week and we also did indefinite and definite intregals for a while.

trig pisses me off because a shape so simple can make you so frustrated. math really isnt my best subject either. i like writing so much more. i get a lot of help because ben can do math all day and he helps me through it sometimes.

edit: yea shake i know lol. i took AP world last year and i got a 3 but the colleges i wanna go to dont accept credit unless you get a 4 or 5 grrr. im a lot better in US history and if i can get a 4 or 5 which i think i will ill knock out 6 credit hours i read in a pamphlet (to purdue anyways...could be different with other schools). the valedictorian of our school last year took so many AP classes i forget how many classes he was able to drop but i think hes like a full year ahead in college than he should techincally be......kids a genius though

its called precalc/trig. our school lets you take business classes that substitute math for credit too and stuff it gets confusing.

it goes freshman: algebra sophomore: geometry junior: precalc/trig or some business class senior: calc/statistics/discrete/some business class or college level math

i used to be a couple years ahead in math but i started sucking huge in middle school and not caring so i dropped down to regular. i have friends 1 and 2 years ahead so their schedules are different. its a weird system. its even worse in elementary school when your learning the basics of all of math. i went from 2nd grade to 4th grade math immediately, and 3rd is when you learn multiplication...so there i was being so confused in 4th grade and they dropped me back down to 3rd. then i did good in that so back to 4th. i was in a different math level almost every quarter from 3rd to 5th grade as well as all my friends.

yeah i guess that would be some intersting topics if you take precalc/trig. I dont even know how our school does it. Our math is all for the state tests and has different letter names. Like umm Math A and Math B, which i guess includes all algebra and geometry and I know Math B is a lot of Trig and after you take those state tests you have like precalc and advanced algebra and then ap calc and ap stat and whatever

I actually started to understand trig stuff ALOT better this semester than I ever did in high school. I threw out the old way I was looking at it and relearned everything. But my high school never did any calc in pre-calc, it was mainly... well, I don't remember at all. It was probably alot of trig and other bullshit.

our state test (ISTEP) you only have to take your freshman and soph year...and the standards are so low i think you have to just piss on the test to fail it. i guess that would be why we dont have our focus on it, we just learn whatever i guess lol.

are your AP tests free in any subjects? i found out like 2 weeks ago that all indiana AP science and math tests are free but anything else you have to pay for. i dont understand that at all

yeah our Math A test is reallly easy supposedly. but our Math B, usually like more than half the kids in my school atleast fail.

@Leaky, yeahh that's what i mean about precalc, it isnt really calc at all, idk what it is lol.

ummm none of ours are free. $84.00 this year per test. I feel bad for my parents between me and my brother. They are talking about maybe paying for them next year which doesnt really help me

i have to pay $84 for my history test this year yeah...we were talkin about it in my 7th period and this kid in my class who is taking AP bio says his bio test is free and that any AP math course you take is free as well. he wasnt totally sure about AP math that could be just a rumor, but i believe it if science is already free.

our state tests are getting buffed (lolwarcraft) huge next year. its only english/math subjects and next year theyre integrating science into it along with way more english its going to take a lot longer. doesnt affect me because im already done with them but my sister is going to get owned.
