right now thers a huge virus i just got from trying to get a serial code for pinnacle stuidio ..i downloaded it..and after it was done everything dissapeared and it went to my default desktop background...no menus or anything..i figured out how to open a few programs like aim...internet explorer...etc.....but besides that im screwed...if anyone has had this before plz show me how you fixed it...cuz i dont want to have to reformat for the 3rd time

oh yeah..i think the thing i got the virus from was called"Active X c ontrols"...it said i needed that to get the serial so i got it...cuz im dumb..so if you see that..never download it unless you want this gay ass virus

My only advice is to try and system restore. You can do this by the main start up and it should say press F11 to restore. Thats the only thing I can think of and good luck getting your computer back man

ok ill try that..thansk..i know i can fix it..but im afradi that the only way to do that is roformatting and i hate doing that...

I have had viruses like that. Turn off your computer and try opening it in safe mode.

ok frank...heres what to do.
download the latest mcafee sdat file here save the sdat file to a folder called c:/vscan restart your computer in safe mode (tap f8 at startup) hit start--run-- type "cmd" (no quotes) type "cd.." (no quotes) hit enter. keep doing that till your at the c: prompt. type "cd vscan" (no quotes) type "sdat4761 /e " (no quotes, make sure you type the same filename as the one you downloaded, mightve updated by now) wait a few for the contents to expand type "scan /adl /del" (no quotes) this will scan all local drives and delete any virus it finds.
