it picks up my dazzle 170, but it doesnt say there is video or audio input.

Dazzle 170's SUCK!
Take it back man... seriously u can only record in MPEG format, not .AVI and VDub records in .AVI take it back and get either a Dazzle 100, Dazzle 90, or Dazzle 150
