you forget everything bungie has redone to h2...the patches etc... are all in an effort to make the game MORE LIKE h1. MLG rules are the same thing. they recognized the flawed settings that come default with h2 that make the game weak for competitive play and turned it into a game where teamwork, skill, and timing were issues that needed to be dealt with, like in h1.

the only parts of h2 that i think are better over h1 are the improved reticule movement in the vertical direction, the teamwork aspect/map design for 4v4 play, and the fact that there is no off-shots in h2. in addition h2 doesn't suffer from in game lag when a lot of weapons are being fired onscreen. not that this should be a problem with the huge processing power of hte 360.

i will agree that h1 is an inferior game to h2 when it comes to 4v4 play, because the map design combined with spawning with 4 nades makes the game extremely chaotic at this point. objective type games are better made combined with the map desgn make them more enjoyable on h2.

i really hope that in h3, the skill level is raised, and hopefully a better weapon system (i wouldn't mind seeing the h1 weapon respawn system back in place) so that 2v2 and slayer games wouldn't be so monotonous anymore.

the pistol is not a cheap weapon. it was an equalizer. the arguments that MLG players use for why you should spawn with a br are based purely on the fact of how halo 1 was played.
I agree a lot. But you even implied this without even knowing it prolly. Halo 1 the better players win, wile halo 2 the better team wins. I enjoy team more then individual. I hope halo 2 finds a happy medium between the games to perfect it. And really dude I play Lan halo 1 still almost everday with my brothers, I can still 3 shot them half way across blood gultch. how is that not easy?

right in h1 the better players win? in h1 the aspect of teamwork is just more subtle. good h1 players aren't just good skill wise, they're good teamwise as well. doesnt' it seem odd to you that the best players in h1 are amongst some of the best players in h2? teamwork in h1 means nading down a powerup for your buddy at the right moment, or forcing a good spawn for your teammate when your in a bad situation. it means nading weapons to your teammates or knowing when running out and dieing so you guys get a better spawn is more advantageous than putting up a fight and giving the other team easy kills.

i often say to people who ask 'how can i get better with my br?'. not to knock your skill level or your brothers, but like i said, you're probably not playing with any good players for h1.

i used to think i was good at halo 1, before i met with a few other players that 'showed me the light' so to speak. one of my friends was a pro player back in h1 days (offered a contract by MLG, turned it down cuz he thought h2 sucked too much), and a few of my other friends who are amazing at the game, there is a true discernable skill gap between average, good, really good, and pro players. i would say with every 'gap', the next 'skill bar' could probably beat the lower 'skill bar' in a 1v1 match by about 20-1. in halo 1 when you get beat, you really feel like you got totally outclassed. in h2, when you get beat, half the time you wonder if 'i had just gotten that melee in, or 'if he hadn't shot that nade out of my hand' etc... at the wrong moment that the tide of the game would have turned. in halo 1 there was a very discernable skill gap, even amongst pros.

i will offer you that yes h2 is very teamwork based, and i'd like to see that return. hopefully bungie will find a balance where the skill required is upped, AND the teamwork area is preserved. like i said before i enjoy h2 when it comes to 4v4 play a lot more, and i think that hte objective games are great now for h2. but there are still a lot of elements of the game design itself that i hate.

I hope they bring back the way you can aim out of the side-seat in first-person.

And an ATV would be suhweet.
