When a storm as massive as Katrina happens, you have a natural disaster in which the state declares a state of emergency, the state of emergency was declared before the storm was even there, when you have a state of emergency you have the national government taking part, i know when FLA had Charlie and Francis come through, happy ass bush was down here giving out water and food to people, but not in New Orleans, so i can see where people would get pissed, and they have a right to

Actully Gunna your facts are wrong, the State of Emergency was not issued until after the storm hit, leaving the national government behind. They did the best they could with the time given.

The fact that i am alot older then you, am registered to vote, and pay attention to polotics, since one of my best friends is a political science major gives me some knowledge. The fact that you lived through hurricanes provides no basis for any more knowledge of the one that happend in Louisiana then me. Guess what I am actully closer to Louisiana then you are. And for the Record I played a football game down in Mississippi in a town that got shit rocked by the hurricane, so I believe I have actully been a lot closer to this hurricane then you. The schools name was Belhaven, and it was in Jackson Mississippi, and my friend is a political science major at Centre College, one of the top schools in the US for education, they have an average ACT score of 30, so he is no dumb ass.

This is what I found on internet(its slow at work).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurrica...ral_government

Some highlights of the article-
"President George W. Bush declared a state of emergency in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi two days before the hurricane made landfall."

At a news conference at 10:00 a.m. on August 28, shortly after Katrina was upgraded to a Category 5 storm, New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin ordered the first ever mandatory evacuation of the city, calling Katrina "a storm that most of us have long feared".

The hurricane didnt hit until the next morning. Anyways keep debating, I like reading everyones opinions.

Ok, I knew that the state of emergency was filed late, and the woman mayor or govenor cant remember which she was gave bad details about the storm to the National Gov't making them slow to react with not enough resources. But above all else remember this, the US gov't is supposed to worry about the entire well being of a country, where the state gov't should be paying attention to its own people.

And also Gunna I had an aunt who lost a house in Katrina from Alabama, who had to say with my grandma in Birmingham for a wile.

The local gov't screwed up. They should have started teh evacuation long before it hit. I don't know if anyone has herd about this or not, but there was a school parking lot that had a lot unused buses that they could have used to evacuate people. But they chose nto to use them.
