I guess the better question here is:

Do you get 'whooped' on a regular basis by one or the other of your parents? Do you get 'whooped' ONLY when you do something wrong or just when they are upset in general?

There is a very fine line between disciplining your child and child abuse. From things you've said about your parents, it sounds to us like they have crossed that line into abuse.

My parents spanked the crap out of me when I was younger. It taught me not to do those things. It was disciplining me and I'm a better person because of it. The only time I have ever been hit out of anger was when I called my mom a 'bitch" when I was about 17 and I got slapped by her.

Back to you TravKid. If you want, feel free to PM or another older member if you feel the need to talk about your parents. They very well may be being depicted poorly by your statements.

Exactly, for all we know hes been acting up at home and is being disciplined. He is 12 years old. Its not beyond the realm of possibility that he's just not wording things properly and they seem worse than they are.

my dad is a disappointment, he pretty much only married my mom to have someone to cook for him, my mom is tha nicest person u can ever meet, my parents are divorced, ive got a step mom, and now im in FL which i dispise, but other than that my parents are just typically uptight, overprotectice, boring ppL
