Me and my good friend, jeff, have this conversation all the time. Im a halo nerd, hes a jeep hick. On the site www.ctjeep.org he is the equivolent of me on GV. We are both just very passionate about what we do. Its what we enjoy. He enjoys spending money on bulding his jeep and taking it offroading. I enjoy spending my time on computers and being a nerd. We've both accepted it and we rag on each other but have a mutual respect for each others hobby. Well, he hasnt totally accepted it yet... but hes getting there.

PS: if any of you have ever been REALLY offroading, then you know its hella run. His jeep is nuts.

WoW's been around forever, I wouldn't exactly say it's the 'new age' dungeons and dragons lol... but I wouldn't say it is anyway... if I couldn't play WoW via video game, and had to play it using trading cards and shit, now THAT's boring haha, just sitting at a table slapping cards down at eachother... eeeehhh... lol

Now... if you add booze, that'd be one hell of a drinking game hahaha.

ok, ill give a summary of D&D for those who only know it by reputation.

its a game played on pads of paper alone. you play with your imagination. its like wow in that you create your own character and make it better and what not. but wow has an interface, it doees things for you, you can screw around and thats it.

With D&D you actually become your character in your head. you talk, think, and react as if you were your player. Its like acting, but taken so far that theyre character actually becomes a part of them. I hardly go around pretending to be some skeleton and stab people, but people who play dnd a lot... they create a whole storyline for their character, and it becomes real for them...

phalanx- i can see how the quests are a bit narrow in creativity for you, but this is for a reason. blizzard has to assume this is your first game in an MMO (which for me, it was...basically. i played phantasy star online for like a week, but other than that i knew nothing)...so you dont know how it goes. they give you simple quests with simple tasks so you get a feel for the game. then, and only then, will the quests get more complex..and inevitably fun..as you get higher and "better" at the game. if youd like id let you on my mage and show you the difference between level 9 quests and level 70 quests.

and this is just my opinion on halo, but i know theres more than 5 maps to play....but thats ALL there ever is. unless ive hosted a game of my own, the only gametypes i see are MLG that people are playing. granted my FL is relatively small since i just started playin again too...but i dont think id get too many non MLG players. so even though theres more maps than 5, its not like you get a good solid group to play those other 5 anyway.

this is a good thread, ill post more later.
