which counterstrike?

this is all a hypothetical question (for now) but it will turn real for me very soon:

i just got my computer wiped clean. its fast, full memory, the works. i want a game on it andi chose counter strike. the problem is, i chose CS as a generality. i didnt know they had so many different games of CS (including HL and HL2)...i just wanna know from the posters here who actually play these games, of which is the best to buy....

half life looks a hell of a lot of fun to me and id deeply appreciate some opinions on that game too.

EDIT: oh yea..completely forgot. i have a pretty recent computer and do you think id have the capabilities to play it? im pretty sure but double checking never hurts

I have 1.6 and cz and this is the requirments
. Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
. 96 MB RAM
. 16 MB Video Card
. 500 MB Hd Space
. Sound Card
.Mouse, Keyboard
.Internet Connection*not needed

half-life 2 is sick, but it comes with cs: source which is fun dont get me wrong but cs 1.6 is probably the better version.....

Ive played a little of cs source against bots ( for some reason wont lemme download updates) but ive had a lot of fun with 1.6

Get Xfire, add st1ckdeath, then get pwned at de_rats. J/k about getting pwned. 1.6 is way better than Source though. Go with that. I'm am playing that alot now days, so send me a PM whenever you want to play.
