what's their to explain? point and shoot. most maps have either plant the bomb or hostage scenarios. terrorist detonate bomb/protect hostages. CT prevent bomb or rescue hostages. each side has their advantages/disadvantages. pro cs/tournament play usually consists of 7 man teams playing alternating between CT and T. each map has distinct advantages and disadvantages for each team. you get money for winning the round and killing the opponents. bomb maps are typically favored in real games.

things a noob should learn.

learn how to buy weapons without clicking. learn the keyboard shortcuts.

th most important thing to realize in CS is that it isn't halo. just because the reticule is ON the person does not mean you are HITTING the person. unlike halo the reticule does not reflect maximal spread, but rather how much your recoil is. CT guns are typically more accurate than T guns, but pack less (if slightly) punch. spread becomes bigger when you are moving while shooting and different guns have different recoil and spread patterns.

the other important thing to realize about CS is that sound plays a big role. sound not only tells you from what direction a person i coming from, but also tells you how far/close they are, when they are reloading etc... silent walking is good for 1v1 scenarios or sneaking up on people, and crouching works to minimize recoil/camp.

another cs vs. halo thing. meleeing is not important. killing someone with a knife is equivalent to killing someone with a needler in halo. its embarrassing, but unlike halo, killing someone with a knife is not hard when in range. you can headshot with a knife, and most the right click slash does more damage than the left click one.

weapons:

CT side:

pistols: this is your bread and butter. you start with the usp on with this. secondary fire (right click) silences. moderate range/accuracy/damage. usually favored over the glock by inexperienced players because it does more damage. silencing reduces damage VERY slightly (i mean like 1hp). this is just a preference really. silencing allows you to be ninja.

most of the pistols will never get bought except the deagle .50. deagle is basically a poor man's sniper. by far one of the most powerful guns in the game, one shot HS, 3 to the body, you can kill anyone with this with a good shot. usually favored with the AWP with the snipe/pistol quickswitch. downsides being cost and low clip capacity (7/35). a lot of times players will buy this first round, skip the armor, and hope to make it out alive with a few kills. weapon is usually bought either first round, or if your on a losing team strapped for cash, OR if you are the sniper.

other pistols are worthless generally and not worth buying/picking up.

SMG's.

MP5 navy. good all around weapon. cheap, light, low recoil, fairly accurate, good for laying down cover fire and extremely good at close ranges, mp5 > rifles at close range. smgs use low caliber bullets so are weaker, but the mp5 is by far the best smg here.

p90. decent weapon. high clip capacity is the main advantage (50/100), so you can shoot while others are still reloading. does decent damage, not great accuracy. generally i won't buy this gun, more of a picker upper.

TMP. permanently silenced this weapon sucks unless upclose. even then you have to rain in a good 3-5 headshots to kill. weapon is mainly good for rushing early if your low on cash and losing, or if your the suicide man on the team. good way to embarrass unsuspecting rifler who just spent a lot of money on a expensive toy.

rifles bread and butter of the game. this is where you show off your skill when you get the funds to buy one.

m4 carbine. vote for 2nd best gun in the game. accurate, powerful, the short barreled version of the m16. headshot machine. love it. good for mowing down multiple targets and very accurate. awesome gun + silence ability to go ninja. i dont remember the recoil on this.

famas/5.56 rifle to buy if your cheap/low on funds. decent rifle, but limited by clip capacity. features three shot burst or full auto. three shot burst is great for picking off long range targets crouching bu an experience player will easily light you up with a m4 or AK. good gun to practice getting good with. moderate power/spread.

scout (cheap sniper). skill weapon. one headshot = kill. 3 shots body = kill. scout has the advantages of not slowing you down while you walk and being accurate even when you're moving. HARD TO USE. reasons being that you need to headshot when killing or chances are you're dead against another rifler. dont think about no scoping as its VERY difficult in CS.

AWP. skill weapon as well, but a lot of players will call you an 'awp whore' if you use it all the time. one shot kill ANYWHERE on the body, does massive damage, penetrates multiple targets and almost any type of barrier, the AWP is awesome. slows you down A LOT, and massive recoil. if your moving dont think about shooting this gun, because it's bullet will go WAY off mark. again dont think about no scoping with this gun (even more so than the scout), since when you no scope, your bullet does not go where you think it does. a popular way to shoot this gun is 'quickscope' meaning you zoom/fire at the same time. the zoom tricks the computer into thinking your aiming, effectively a no scope. skilled AWP players are amazing to watch (watch ksharp, fr0d, heat0n). usually AWP players carry the deagle around if they miss and are getting fired on. most players bind the keys together so yo ucan insta switch to AWP/cancel animations. expensive. late game use.

auto snipers aren't worth mentiong. using them is looking to get made fun of for being a noob. moreover they suck for their price and aren't worth using/mentioning.

shotguns
pump shotty (cheaper one). really good. no reload. pump after every shot, devastating at close range, less effective when person is wearing armor etc...

auto shotty. gets you called a noob. aka: noob cannon. really powerful at close ranges, less effective at range (more so than pump shotty). learn to use pump shotty. its better.

gear

kevlar/helmet. always buy, unless you really think your hot shit. if you dont have a helmet your looking to get hs'd and die very quick. i can't stress enough how important this is.

frag nade: good for weakening people, or late game kills (when people are low on health).

flashbangs: blinds and deafens people. launch wait pop up and shoot the blinded people. be careful dont blind yourself or your teammates. there is nothing more annoying than a noob who blinds you and gets you killed. if you 'look away' from the flash, you can decrease its blindness effect a bit.

smokies: generally disliked by many people because it causes the game to lag. used to disguse your tracks or your teammate tracks. useful sometimes as people will 'look away' thinking its a flash, and you can mow them down easily.

Terrorist side

not much differences here but a few

T pistol glock. very weak, but very accurate. most experienced players will tell you the glock is better. other advantages being its big clip, the three shot burst. 3 hs= kill you get the point? again very accurate/little recoil and 'freezes' your enemy when they are getting shot.

SMG mac-10. shitty weapon. big recoil. similar to the TMP in everything except power. VERY POWERFUL. but big recoil so fulfills the same purpose as the tmp.

rifles

Defender/galil

baby ak. generally not worth picking up. moderate rifle all around

AK ****ING 47. best gun in the game. experienced players ONLY. very inaccurate gun, but very powerful. however this gun is accurate on the FIRST shot (and in source the 2nd and 3rd). meaning this gun is dead accurate when you burst the initial few shots. you can use it as a sniper and one hs will kill. this is the gun you want to learn to get with. aim near chest, since it recoils up.

there is a m249 machine gun also, but its not really worth picking up.

good players will tell you to burst. GREAT players will tell you to always spray. i would recommend using the former before the latter. all guns have a recoil pattern, and opposing the recoil patten will allow you to get a solid, very accurate stream. very difficult to do and requires precise movement, the best pors (heat0n comes to mind) are very good at this, and you will see them using guns full auto all the time, wasting very few bullets. if you watch pro footage it isn't uncommon to see a single player (with the help of teammates of course) to lay waste to 4,5, or 6 players with a single clip.

it also takes alot of skill to start getting cross map headshots with guns but if u play with alot of the guns andfind 1 u like then use it like me im a fan of the ak47, pumpshotty, scout, p90, navy, and deagle and duelies lol

for ct im a fan of the mp4a1 or wut ever can never remeber the name always use the silencer on that beast ummm most of the same guns but i like the phamus on ct its a good cheap gun

but im srry to say to all u fans awp takes no skill wutso ever since when does a shot in the foot kill u??? or if u shoot through a box and it hits u in the leg it can still kill u?????? scout is tyhe only sniper that is a mans gun.

also knifes are somthing that if u do to some1 u can make fun of them because its unbalivably hard to get were as u right behide them they turn around and just spray and u die

actually i'm pretty sure that awping someone in the foot or hands doesn't guarantee a kill. its happened to me before, and it deals osmething like 90 damage.

AWP does take skill. watch the top pros AWP, and you'll see what i'm talking about. you have to pay attention to your position more closely. again like i said, watch a video by ksharp/shaguar/fr0d and you'll see what i'm talking about.


there's a ksharp video that shows him at his prime when he was part of x3, as well as a number of clips of him playing on 3D. nothing short of bamazing.

heat0n has a nice set of videos that show off his m4/ak skills as well.

and i forgot to mention the steyr aug/krieg. both are decent weapons, but a little too expensive. features scope and automatic fire. decent weapons all around with the aug being the CT and krieg being T. although in real life the aug would more likely be used by a terrorist than a CT, its CT in the game cuz its a little bit more accurate.

all of the guns in CS are real, with the real names being in CS 1.5. in 1.6 & source the real names aren't displayed due to liscencing problems. there a number of inaccuracies in the game that i won't mention.

i think i got skined by a awp once and it hit me for 97 damage but even when i watch pros use awps it looks just not as sloppy as some kids but that thought of it hitting them anywere from the ankles up kills them and theres not much u can do when ur down and all u can afford is a deagle or a navy and he has tons of money and has an awp, also in one of the patchs like 4 months ago they made the awp do more damage so like instaed of it doing like 137 to the chest they made it do like 148


i like seeing guns that are 1 shot to the head but not to the body because then u know they had to aim and not get lucky were as an awp u just shoot at them u usually dont go for the body

in my opnion awp ruins the game for me because i play on some good servers and i play on 1 called beer gardens were the first 3 to 5 rounds are so much fun like every1 using deags and pstols and then like smgs and then ifles and such and then some1 pulls out the awp and the whole game just gos mad of u walking around a corner and theres 5 guys all with awps looking there and its just not fun

me the only thing close to a awp that i use is the scout which is ussually 2 shots to the chest and has a huge retical unless ur crouching and not walking in scope
