Font Issue: - 12-08-2005, 12:58 AM
I am having this font issue that thus far, no one has been able to solve... The problem is like this:
The font is: http://www.houseoflime.com/dings/orn...ecorations.htm steps i take: I restart my computer. I install the font on my computer by dragging it into the fonts folder in the windows folder. I open up Photoshop CS2. I create a new document: width: 500 height: 500 resolution 72 px/inch color mode: RGB 8 bit background contents: background color I select the text tool and click on the canvas. (caps lock off - even with this on it doesnt work) I select the ornamental font and click on the stage. I press the letter 'a' on the keyboard and nothing happens; as in the cursor does not respond. I then click on the background layer to deselect the text layer and the text layers name turns to an 'a' but i still cannot see anything on the canvas. (the canvas is white and my text is black.) if i use a different font such as times new roman or something it works but why not this one? the designer corners font works just fine but not this ornament one and quite a few others. The ornamentaldecorations font works in fireworks8 and word as well... please help this is maddening! |

take your caps lock off. there is no character assigned to shift+a, but there is one for plain old a. if a isnt working, hold shift and hit a and see if it works.

So i think i may have solved it but i am not sure if this action accomplished that...
Awhile ago i had downloaded a font .psd (a psd that had a bunch of ornamental fonts in it) from http://www.xeler8r.com and opened it. Potentially opening that file screwed things up (maybe i said yes to find replacements or something when ps couldnt find the fonts in the file.) as all i did was re-open that file and say no to replace fonts. Then i closed the file and opened a new one and tried using the font in question and others that hadnt been working, they worked. could this file & me opening it been why it wasnt working? oh well, works now... 3 hours of my life spent troubleshooting this... ![]() |
