We have decided to change the requirements for GV Elders

After much deliberation, we have decided to change the requirements for GV Elder status. I've heard many different arguments from various people from throughout the forum and the decision has been made to change the requirements for being a GV Elder.

The requirements have been changed to this:

In order to be a GV Elder, you must have been with the site for over a year AND have a high post count (1000).

The previous requirements were that the user must have been with the site for six months OR have a high post count.

The problem with the previous requirements was the OR in that statement. Too many members were granted GV Elder status, when they had less than a hundred posts. So we decided that the requirements to be a GV Elder had to be changed because it was far too easy to become an Elder.

I'm sorry if this will upset some people, but it will be for the best. It was my fault for not thinking through the promotion that I used to grant GV Elder status enough.

Please do not flip out. It should have never been done the way it was before and that was my fault for doing it the way I did.

Edit: It has been fixed. And again I'm sorry if this may have upset some people. This may still be open to change a little. But most likely the only thing that would change is the length of time required to be an Elder. I don't see moving it back down the six month mark, but we'll see.

FrAiD is the man. All of you who are not an elder now when you were dont get all pissy and mad. FrAiD has done a LOT in these past few weeks here to make everyone happy. I strongly encouraged this decision so it made the Elder Status more exclusive, it would make more stay active for longer so they get in this excluded area. Very good choice *claps*

Much better requirements I think, I really did not feel like an Elder at all.

a little bit ago the bottom list of members were 75% green

now theres not a single one.....

well it certainly narrowed it, if not a little requiring of people who dont post that much

this was my worst fear. im really glad to see you're taking it maturely. we hope anyone who had elder status taken away from them isnt offended....as its nothing personal...you just havent earned it yet.

i agree with the new restrictions, but if we have that AND between the two requirements, the post count required should be aboug 500, although im happy with it the way it is

This man is truely and elder and truely deserves it. The people that have bared it out the longest (the elders) are the ones that are mature and seperated from the rest.

Only room to grow, progression is everything. thg here, .amp. asked me to remove him from the site, but to avoid messing with the forum database I simply moved his post count down to zero. Edit: changing the post count didn't work so I'm just going to leave it for now.
