Quality help. - 03-23-2007, 04:51 PM

Horizontal lines go continuously down my videos. When I record they are there, and they also appear on my TV.

They have always been there, but ever since I started recording with Windows Movie Maker they have gotten worse, a lot worse.

My quality has also gotten horrible ever since I started recording with Movie Maker, and when I was recording with Catalyst (what comes with an ATI wonder Pro) the quality was really good.

I don't know much about computers, but I hope you guys can help me.

Thanks.

don't use movie maker for starters. Get virtual dub. That will help the quality. I would say de-interlace to get rid of the lines, but you said they appear on your tv too which is weird.

Here are some tuts on how to get good quality.

Thanks man, but it still has the lines going down it, and I can't find where to de-interlace in the options.

Also, when I turn or move around the screen is really glitchy.

If I could just fix that and the lines, I would be set.

Also, when I try to capture video, it says -Unable to open file "" for write: The system cannot find the path specified.-

Once I can get that figured out I will put a vid on Mythica.

Wow, something needs to go right.

You need to make sure your capturing in MPEG 1/2 and not AVI although that's probably not what is causing your problem....

Thanks, but I can't find anything in Virtual Dub. I don't even know where to change what I'm capturing in.

But, I think it's right. It's just the lines and glitchy screen.

Before you start capturing you have to set your file destination.

Go file>capture avi>file>set capture file

that will get your location

just capture in vdub and then import to vegas.

Capture in vdub with the huffy compression and then you can sharpen in vdub too. Then import into vegas and do what you want with it as far as effects go.
