Two part question (one about capturing sound...the other about compressing my video) - 10-07-2005, 07:25 PM
Alright, I've played around in Adobe Premire and figured out a solid picture quality for my captures...I'm really happy with the way it looks, but I have two problems...
#1. When I was capturing with Windows Movie Maker...there was an option to let me use the sound card that's part of my capture card to capture the audio to my capture, at the same time as I was capturing the video... is there anything in Adobe that lets you capture audio and video at the same time? I've looked (what seems like) everywhere inside of the program, and I can get it to "capture audio" but there's not actually any audio there...it's like it's not reading the sound from the capture (kind of like in Windows Movie Maker when I have my audio set to capture from "soundMax" rather then "Dazzle DVC Recording Device" #2. What's a good program to use to compress my videos out of Adobe? Even though I REALLY like the quality of my captures, it's kind of ridiculious that of the two tests I've done (one 34 seconds long, and one 42 seconds long) that both of my very short clips have resulted in becoming 460mb and 482mb files... What's a good and easy program to use to shrink them up without losing the quality of my captures?

Man...I'm so sick of my capture crapping out on me now, I'm gunna go buy the capture card that you have tomorrow and start all over again...I just had a 45-0 game on my new account (sure the people we were playing weren't very good, but it was still pretty nasty...and fun...) and my capture completely crapped out on me...I'm sooooo sick of it, it's happened the last 3 or 4 games in a row that I've played... Anyway, thanks for the help...I'll let you know how my new setup goes.

Alright man, I checked it out, I do have the encoder...it works pretty well (compressed a 460mb file into a 15.6mb file)... But that file was still only 30 seconds long... what settings do you run the encoder at?
And...still, does anyone have any idea how to capture sound through Premire? (I assume that it would work about the same running any kind of capture card and capturing through Premire)... cuz It just might be WMM that's been messing up my capture, everything through Adobe seems to be coming through just fine (just in HUGE files)
