Huffyuv problems - 04-21-2006, 09:46 AM
I'm having trouble with the huffyuv codec in VDUB.
When I use the huffyuv codec and save the segmented avi file it creates a file ok. But, anytime I try to open that avi file it crashes whatever program I am opening it with. For example, importing to WMM (yes, I know it sucks, but...) crashes WMM. Opening in vdub crashes vdub. In fact I can't even view the file in windows explorer. As soon as I click on the folder the file is in windows explorer crashes too. I have to open a DOS prompt just to delete the file. (I can use the other compression codecs in vdub just fine) Anyone have any clue why this might be happening? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

So I tried reinstalling and that didnt help.
In fact when I tried to un-install I got an error saying the program wasnt really there or something (weird)....so I installed it again, it didnt work, and I again got the message when I tried to un-install. I wonder if it has something to do with my OS which is XP Media Center. I guess I will have to go with a different codec. Has anyone tried the MSU Lossless codec? found here it supposedly has the highest compression rate among lossless codecs (which also makes it slow) Next I need to figure out how to turn interlace off....it sucks that I haven't been able to do that. I tried Pinnacle but it didnt recognize my capture device.
