Deinterlace / Interlace - A profound impact on the quality of vids - Read up! - 10-13-2005, 02:40 PM

This is what each device needs

TV = Standard is Interlaced (but deinterlaced video is fine)

Computer Monitor (progressive scan) = Must need deinterlaced video or blurry / motion lines show up

horizontal lines are automatically put into captured video while using most capture cards unless you specify to "deinterlace" the video. If you leave your video interlaced , the result is most often described as a blurring effect while watching on a computer monitor. The reason why is a computer monitor runs in progressive scan (all lines on at the same time) a TV has alternating horizontal lines that flash off and on without humans noticing them.

Here are examples of interlaced video (bad) and deinterlaced video (Good)

I find it so hilarious when people in various forums talk about how great someone's quality is without them recognizing the blurry lines / crappy picture that result from sudden movements.

This thread is focused on bringing awareness to something that everyone should do: Deinterlace while capturing your video!

laggy as in dropping frames? this could be any number of things down to the video card or your amount of ram, to what programs you're running while capturing.

Fell like helpin' a brutha out. where are you seeing it? Altho...WMM has been sucking balls lately. and I can't use Pinnacle, because the program spazzes out on me and closes every time I try to capture something.
