Capturing Footage questions

Ok so I'm a complete newb, but I have a few questions to get started on capturing footage.

I just got back from the store with Dazzle Video Creator Plantinum, an external device attached to a USB plugin which goes to the computer, and the red white and yellow inputs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, which I probably will be, but in order to capture footage, I must plug the xbox into this external capturing device, then that device to the computer.

How can I play the xbox now that it is not hooked up to the TV? Do I need a cord that splits the red white and yellow cords two ways, one to the tv and one to the dazzle capture device?

Help me out guys plz.
