i was wandering who all uses a video camera and how they set everything up bc i thought i bought or already had everything bc i cant seem to figure it out...help me out

Using a video camera to make montages = bad idea

Get a cap card.

i use a video camera, and i just set it up from the output a/v cables and connect them to my cam then after i use firewire to transfer it from my cam to my comp

Same here, and the quality is usualy better then a cap card.

it depends. if you have a DV camcorder, the quality would be better, but if you have a DVD camcorder the quality would be right around what a capture card can do or slightly worse. however the quality wouldn't really be noticeably better than a good cap card that has hardware encoding.

lets not mention that a camcorder costs significantly more than a capture card, but a lot of families already have one, so i guess its a sunk cost.
