VIrtual Dub Help, PLZ HELP - 10-12-2006, 06:55 PM
Im working on a video sig tutorial and I need help with compressing it in order to make it avaliable to you guys.
I recorded it with Camtasia and Im trying to use Virtual Dub to compress it, but I'm having trouble with codecs and finding one that actually works in cutting down on the file size, obviously without diminishing the quality. I've tried several already, but to no avail. I'm stuck! Please all you video editors / montage makers / tutorial makers, please help ol' Cal. ~CaL P.S - I'm lookin at you Ephrum and you Goat.. Free Sig to anyone who helps me ![]()

Yes, I've used huffyuv, it somehow managed to quadruple the file size. Yes, i've tried divX, it made the file size BIGGER, something I do not understand. Any more suggestions are warmly welcomed. ~CaL

fattony, can you elaborate?
icy, think u can give a bit more detail. see guys, you have to realize that although I may appear to have a general knowledge of this garbage, I am a bit oblivious lol.. Ok, so those two options sound great... save as avi twice, then as a wmv. Why can't i just directly save it as a wmv? thx so much for the speedy replies..

Search Google for "Windows Media Encoder 9"
Install it Run it Once you do go to ... Convert a File Browse... (find the file you need to convert) Click ok, Click ok again (file download computer playback) Than select High Def quality and CD Audio, It will take your File size from 100 mb to 2 mb with better quality, and put it in widescreen and make it look hella good, trust me here... if you dont like widescreen you can select to put it in DVD Quality, which is the next selection in the scrollbar of High Def quality After that click finish, and let it encode, you should have a pretty quality, low file size .wmv file when your done
