Im on the fence of the whole debate.. however, in response to the above quote. Id like to point you in the direction of Karma. Yes, a player on one of the top 2 teams as well as the #1 individual player. He was terribly overweight and out of shape when he started. he is now in great shape and exercises daily.

also, most of the 'pro' gamers arent fat wastes. most of them appear to be pretty physically fit. it was surprising to see that when i went to mlg ny.

Ya you compete against others. Notice when you take it you get a % on how you did against others. Also how is gaming physical if test taking isnt? Huh

ur percentage is not there to beat others, it is to show how intelligent you are and its for college, not to beat your friends. Taking a test is pure mental playing halo takes both mental skills and hand eye coordination

in a way it is a competition, i see what hes saying. you want the highest score possible...so you can get into the best college. not everyone will make it into the best college, so you must compete by getting higher scores/extra curricular activites etc.

it is a competition, just in a very weird sense.

Well stated exactly what i said but more in depth. So nontechnically is you call gaming a sport you have to say taking the sats a sport.

Gaming doesnt take hand eye coordination. It takes common sense you dont need to have good hand eye coordination to press buttons. You are saying pressing buttons on a elevator takes hand eye coordination.

yea i totally see what your saying...its not a usual competition with a score and an ultimate winner...but you are really trying to beat everyone else so you're priority in college acceptance. you guys are both right in different senses.

sport /spɔrt, spoʊrt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[spawrt, spohrt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.

gaming is not an athletic activity, so according to the dictionary, no.. gaming is not a sport. however it is still a competition.
