Dead 360 twice

My friend just got his 360 back today after sending it three weeks ago. Needless to say, when he tried to play Halo 3 on it, it STILL didn't work. I've heard about this happening before, but I was wondering just how often this actually occured? Also, does the warranty still apply?

I don't know what to tell ya man, but I do know this.
I got a Elite awhile ago and havn't had any problems.

Gather up all of the accessories and the 360, invest in the Elite, even if it means coughin' up a few more bucks.

Thats my best advice, I don't have anything else.

Even getting an elite isn't going to give you less of a chance of the RROD. If I were you I would wait for the new 360 to come out with the 65nm chipset or whatever size they are making it.

One of the things Best Buy told me was that you should never have your 360 standing upright. If that is the case then find a place to set it down flat. This happened to me as well, they just told me to go pick out a new 360 lol.

That shouldn't happen because they give you a brand new 360 when you send your old one in. Atleast thats what they did with mine, and Im sure if he tells them what happened they will give him a new one.

What payne said is true, standing your 360 upright means a greater chance of the ring of death, something with the circulation, and you are more likely to ruin the laser and not be able to read any discs (what happened to mine). Also, one thing to consider is an intercooler. Yes, it does cool down the inside of the 360 a bit, but it can also suck in a lot of dust and possibly make your situation worse. Also, using an intercooler voids your warranty, so don't tell anyone if you did use one.

My friend is on his 4th-5th 360, whenever Microsoft sends him a new one, there's always something wrong with it.

i think the warrenty starts again from the date it was repaired, so he should have another 3 year warrenty from when microsoft returned his console to him, i think so anyway, but dont quote me on that.....

supposedly 1 in 3 360s don't work, have a friend who got the red ring of deaths then got a new one and it wont read any disk, an my other friend's died the other day with the red rings.
