Paint Your Axe!! - 12-09-2007, 02:06 PM
HERES A QUICK TUT ON PAINTING YOUR AXE ![]() first rip that ***** apart like it was the biggest present under the tree ![]() make sure you keep track of the pieces and where they go, this is how i did it lol ![]() the insides should come out in 1 piece ![]() i used WD40 and a razor to get the big stickers off, after you get the sticker off their will be stick left, its easier to wet it down and shave it off with the razor ![]() here is the paints i used, i took TDM's advice and got some slick overcoat, it finishes it up nicely ![]() i used 220 sandpaper lightly all over the guitar, specially on the kneck because the sandpaper grooves help the paint to stick and not just drip down the side ![]() stroke left and right with the spray cans at a reasonable distance until it is covered IMPORTANT..make sure you use some kind of alchohol base or liquid on your guitar after sanding it, this takes all the grease off the guitar wich comes from you touching it, you do not want hand grease on the guitar, it will cause the paint to form small circles, or bubbles and just wont look good ![]() now wait for it to dry after a few coats, depending on what color your painting over what color, put the slick over coat on annnnnnnnd ![]() matches teh room ![]() Last edited by Kombat Frank : 12-09-2007 at 02:42 PM. |

i started this tedious process on an old PS2 controller tonight. im gonna buy sandpaper and paint(and some extra screws!) on tuesday. any suggestions on colors?
EDIT: Since the guitar is red, should i paint it white first, or just go straight from red to whatever color i choose?
