Xbox Live Rumors and Facts

here have been some disturbing 360 rumors. Theyre mostly good news, but it certainly seems to penalize thos who got their units early (hence the "disturbing" part).

Source is Xbox365.com, which cites Meristation.com as their source, and my editorial on probable fact/fiction:


- The premium pack will cost $100 less in october.
FICTION. The PS3 was rumor priced today at $399. This would just be unprecedented. MS has the cash, but their taking losses on the unit as it is.

- The core system will cost $80 less.
FICTION.

- Gears of War will be out in the last week of October with a huge budget for the advertising.
PROBABLY FACT.

- HD-DVD out in September $100.
PROBABLY FACT

- New hard disk (100GB) But no price and date available.
FICTION, unless they can prove they are able to move the emulator somehow for those with smaller drives.

- Webcam "My Eye on You" (September $50-$70 bundled with a game).
PROBABLY TRUE

- More than 50 new Xbox games in June compatible with the 360.
FICTION. On IGN.com theres only 3 major titles with June releases. Unless devs are hiding stuff under rocks, this is not possible

- The bandwidth of the server will be increased by 5.
FICTION. WTF does this mean?

- Halo 3 will be in the market in March 2007, first video at the E3.
NO COMMENT. Add your own Halo rumor here.

- Possible exclusive right for an "urban game" think Grand Theft Auto, Microsoft in working on it.
FACT. Its a genre that makes sense.

- The price of the Xbox Live Gold will be reduced or even free with commercials on the dashboard for October.
FICTION. Destroy their primary revenue stream? Hardly likely.

- The production of the Xbox 360 is increasing 2x in all the factories.
NO COMMENT. Depends on component demand, I assume.

- Exclusive agreement with Paramount picture for High definition content for Xbox Live.
PROBABLY FACT.

- Agreement with NBC, to see all the Xbox Live tournaments as a spectator.
FICTION. There arent enough right now, and while gaming is taking off, I hardly see a major network investing in televised video game events.

- Agreement with Epic record for exclusive content in Xbox Live.
PROBABLY FACT.

- New dashboard for kids.
NO COMMENT.

- Kameo 2 is on the way.
Fact. On Major Nelson the creaters said something about wanting to add more elements in the next game

- New feature, download and play is coming.
NO COMMENT. I dont know what this means.

- Before October the Xbox 360 will be virtual console, playing all sega games.
PROBABLY FACT. I've heard a few rumors about this now, and the players make sense.

- A lot of Arcade Xbox Live games are coming.
PROBABLY FACT

- New dashboard is coming.
FICTION. Revamps maybe, but not a "new" one. Thats a signifigant amount of time to invest in redoing the UI.

-Friends list increased to 250 people
Probably True with many people complaining about it.

I would never be able to use up 100 gigs but it sounds cool, maybe a scheme to make money back lol. Looks like i made the right decision to wait cuz i knew it would be dissapointing to buy it early. The only current games i want are GRAW and MB Oblivion. I also want Splinter cell: DA.

They have allready updated the bandwith to E3 movies & games to download them.

I'm just confused on the whole Fact or Fiction thing... just because it does or doesn't make sense to you...doesn't mean that you can lable something fact or fiction. Also... I don't really pay much attention to any web site's announcements other then Bungie.net, and XboxLive.com... There are so many web sites that publish absolutly BOGUS stories...just to stir the pot...it's pretty stupid.

Not to mention that your lack of knowledge of the video game industry and insides just make your predictions and judgements a complete joke...

USA has already signed a deal with MLG... saying they are going to broadcast this year's events. Something like 7 or 8 episodes... on Saturday mornings... Who's to say NBC isn't jumping on the band-wagon early along with USA? There are other tournement organizations besides MLG. There's VGL, CAL...to name a few... it's not entirely impossible or unlikely...

But like I said... 'til I hear it from a completely reliable source...it's all just gossip

I bet in the future games will be so interwined with our culture that it might be declared the next SPORT!

I mean it's not like ANYONE can be pro. It takes just as much dedication as being a PRO IRL would...It takes lots of skill.

And not just Halo either. ANY multiplayer game that gets enough publicity and that players are willing to play professionally works to. Just like Super Smash bros. Their have already been some MLG themed shows on MTV dude totally possible in my opinion.
